Mr. Dominic Baffo teaches 8th-grade math at Lighthouse Connections Academy. He began teaching and tutoring in 1998 as an adjunct math instructor at community colleges in the Metro Detroit Area while working full-time as an industrial engineer. He started teaching full-time at high schools in 2012 and joined our team in the Fall of 2020. He has his bachelor of science in mathematics, minor in English, master of arts in mathematics, master of science in industrial engineering, and master in education (Math Specialist - Curriculum and Instruction), all from Wayne State University.

Mr. Baffo enjoys math and likes working one-on-one with students to help them succeed and hopefully appreciate it a little, too. The most rewarding part of his work is seeing students strive each day, whether it's on their math assignments, attending class, asking questions, helping each other, working together, or growing their math knowledge, abilities, and appreciation of learning.

When teaching, Mr. Baffo tries to relate the topic to something the students find interesting so they are curious to solve and discuss. He also encourages students to celebrate their successes along the way.

"My family has been blessed with the opportunity to learn and grow with Connections Academy over the past three school years. It has been a game changer for our student, removing distraction barriers, and allowing us to receive the dedicated support and tools that promote success. We are forever grateful for our partnership with Connections Academy, and would highly recommend any family to enroll!"

"Absolutely love this program. My son graduated in 2023. He was able to complete High School and take up a trade. By the time he graduated, he was already working full-time in his trade at 17."
